Days of Gratitude (16)
I have two words for today: Turkish Baths
Acquamadre is a lovely little Turkish bath in the heart of Rome’s Jewish ghetto. Tucked away in a quiet corner, my friend Linda and I practically had the place to ourselves while we lavished ourselves with black olive soap, basked in the steam room, and were rubbed down with salts and lotions…
*sigh*
I am so grateful for the opportunity to relax and spend the day gabbing with a girlfriend in such a fabulous setting…

That sounds lovely. I wish I had a Turkish bath to go to!

I am so envious of your Turkish bath. Europeans (and Asians too) sure how to relax with their saunas and bathhouses, as opposed to us in the USA. I always love it when we ski in Germany or Austria. The ski resorts always have such lovely ralaxing baths, saunas and such.
Enjoy!!!

I am soo happy that you are taking good care of yourself. Sounds lovely. I treat myself to baths exclusively…I feel I deserve it and it is such a nice way to begin or end a day.
Love,
Jade

That sounds incredible. And black olive soap? Good enough to eat!

Were you naked? Or can you wear a swimsuit at these Turkish baths?

Gosh, your experience sounds way better than mine Nona, I did the Hamam at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, same elements but the lady who took care of me treated me like cattle. I felt pummeled rather than refreshed and relaxed. Not my favorite experience but the Hamams in Iran are nice. You make me pea green with envy.
